OUR MISSION AND GOALS
The purpose of the Staten Island History Hunters Metal Detecting Club is to unearth Staten Island's past. From studying these artifacts and their origins, we can discover and trace the long trail of Staten Island's history from its distant past through today. All newly learned information will be posted on this web site for the benefit of all Staten Islanders.  No Staten Island History Hunters Metal Detecting Club member shall search any property (Public or Private) without prior permission from the controlling authority. All recovered artifacts will be presented to the controlling authority to be disposed of as they see fit. All searched properties will be left exactly as found so that no evidence of our search will appear or alter the property in any way.

CODE OF ETHICS
1. I will always check federal, state, and local laws before searching. It is my responsi-
bility to "know the Law "
2. I will respect private property and will not enter private property without the owner's permission. Where possible, such permission will be in writing.
3. I will take care to refill all holes and leave no damage.
4. I will remove and dispose of any and all trash and litter that I find.
5. I will appreciate and protect our heritage and all natural resources, wildlife and private property .
6. I will as an ambassador for the hobby, use thoughtfulness, consideration and courtesy at all times.
7. I will work to help bring unity to our hobby by working with any organization of any geographic area that may have problems that will limit their ability to peacefully pursue the hobby.
8. I will leave all gates as found.
9. I will report to the proper authorities any individuals who enters and removes artifacts from federal, parks or state preserves.
